Bead loom

What you need

Miyuki Delica 11/0; long loom/beading needle, size 10-12, about 3 in / 75 mm or more; nylon beading thread; bead mat and scissors. Loom for 77 warps and at least 98.8 mm bead width, plus room for finishing.

How to begin

1. Warp the loom with 77 threads.
2. Start at bottom left; pick up a row left to right.
3. Push beads between warps; return above the warps.
4. Repeat upward; weave ends and finish the backing.

Delica colours are matched on screen (CIEDE2000) from Miyuki product photos, so shades are approximate; check the physical bead. A 1-bead border in a background colour is added so every loom row is complete. Rows are resampled for 1.3 mm bead width and 1.6 mm row height to preserve the design proportions. The preview shows the finished bead proportions. Includes background border; sizes and screen matches are estimates. Buy 10% spare. Grams assume about 190 Delica 11/0 per gram (supplier figure: 5 g is about 1,000 beads); buy whole 5 g or 7.2 g packs. Detail-preserving adaptation: 1 bead columns per original source column.
