What you need

Yarn in nearest DMC colours plus background; matching hook; bobbins and yarn needle. Swatch first.

How to begin

1. Start at bottom right; use ch-2 / 3 hdc tiles (US terms).
2. Grow from 1 to 78 tiles.
3. Work 0 more diagonals of 78 tiles. Increase at one edge and decrease at the other.
4. Shrink 77 to 1: 155 diagonals in all. Turn each row; change colour on the last pull-through.

One square = one mini-C2C tile (ch-2 / 3 hdc, US terms). Work every background tile too. Follow diagonals from bottom right. Grow 1 to the short side; hold that count while one edge grows and the other shrinks; then shrink to 1. Chart rows are not working rows. Yarn amounts are planning estimates; read Finishing & help for setup, rates and other weights. Key yarn: worsted-mini planning rate, 0.50 yd per tile before extras. Worsted size assumes a 5 mm hook and an unmeasured 0.6 in tile. The smaller pillow size assumes fingering yarn and a 3 mm hook. Swatch first.
